Somewhere Brief - Somewhere you can hide #1

Here is a picture of Jade, I took her to Ampitheatre to take some pictures amongst the trees. I asked her to raise her arms up in the air so she looked taller and more discrete.

Here is Jodie, Jade and Lewis (L-R). I thought I could use these three to hide behind a tree as if they are playing a game of hide and seek.

photoshop warp.

What an improvement.

6 sentences I have chosen.

Below are the six sentences I have chosen off the list. The reason I have chosen these sentences are because I think I could make a better image out of them than the others, also these seem more intresting to me.

If you had to leave your heart somewhere, where would it be?

Somewhere you really shouldn't go.

Somewhere secret.

Somewhere colourful.

Somewhere powerful.

Somewhere you can hide.

Image Manipulation - 3) Steve Fanning

These images by Steven Fanning show how images can be edited to give them a different texture, a different experience when you see the image.

The image above has been edited to make the picture look smoother and softer, also to give the image a special touch. I like this image as it shows how the fragile baby needs a soft touch, also the colours add to the effect.

This image above has been edited so that the main highlight of the picture is the couple, so that when you first look at the photograph you see the couple highlighted rather than the decorative background being stood out.

I quite like these photographs because they shows the difference before and after they have been edited.

Image Manipulation - 2) Karol Kolodzinski

Here are two images from the artist Karol Kolodzinski.

This image is sponsered by Nike, this image can be used as a logo or for advertisement. This image is using peoples legs to create different letters.

I like this image because of the dark colours, also how the two faces are both attached at the neck.

I'm not too keen on these two images as I think with image manipulation you can be more creative with the photographs rather than just do simple edits.

somewhere.

Here are two images taken on two different settings, one was used with a green filter and the other used a with a red filter. The red filter takes a better picture as it can make your skin look smoother and slightly airbrushed. Here are four photographs that were taken to show the difference between the two.

Image Manipulation - 1) Erik Johansson

For task two of our 'Somewhere' brief, we must research five photographers that use image manipulation for their work. We must research images that they have created through the image manipulation software, then we must score them out of ten, 1 being bad and 10 being excellent, reasons why and explanations why we do or do not like their selected photo.

My first researched artist is Erik Johansson, I like the image below because it is definitely out of the ordinary. It makes you think about the image and how this software is used to create the photo to make it look realistic rather than fake. I like this image a lot, I would rate it 7/10.

This photograph below is one of my favourites from Erik, mainly because the editing used actually makes this photograph so real, as if the water has actually come out of the picture from the river and into the house. Also you can see her reflection from the water on the floor that has 'apparently' dropped out of the photo. I rate this image 8/10.

somewhere - research

For our new brief 'somewhere', I have researched via Google to find some images to inspire me in what photographs to take for my work.

Every person has their own interpretation of 'somewhere'. Some people may think of somewhere they go to relax, others to use free time participating in something they enjoy, some people may think of somewhere as a place of work, a place to spend time with friends, family or others. Some just enjoy spending time out and about looking at buildings or scenery.

Somewhere could be..

  • a place to hide
  • a break away from home
  • somewhere to relax
  • social meet up with friends
  • an imaginary place
  • somewhere impossible
and lots more.

Here are a few images of my interpretation or 'somewhere'.

Peaceful Beach Water Cool
I like this photo because it is really calm and peaceful. I see this image as break away from home, time for a break and time to yourself and your body to relax and take time away from a constant working life.

I also like this photograph, because I like big cities
and busy places. After you work for such a long time, there is nothing better than being able to take a break and spend your well-earned money on things for yourself.

This photograph could be represented for a lot of people. Sometimes when we get mad, angry or upset, we want to be locked away and alone. Many people would want to be locked away in a dark place away from everybody. This photograph shows darkness and peacefulness, also it shows loneliness.

somewhere brief.

This image was for the word 'invoice', so for this we got Lewis to hold up a sign reading 'Give me money', as if it is owed to him and he is requesting for the invoice to be paid.

For this image, we had to do an image for the word 'arse', so for a laugh we got an image of Lewis, me, Jasmine and Jade (L-R) showing our.. exactly.

For this image, our selected word was underlay. So Lewis' great idea was to lie on top on one and other.. great idea.

This was our picture for 'Boss', and we decided to pose as if Lewis being a teacher telling us off. Can obviously tell by his face he's mad.

'Prayer', obviously.

jumping photographs, lewis hughes.

This image is of Lewis jumping off the wall, we asked him to do a stupid pose so we could capture the whole jump, instead of him just walking off the wall. Also his face makes a beautiful picture, obviously!

We all asked Lewis to do a stupid pose, yet again. Also to take his hat off. Obviously these pictures are for a laugh, but they do show the jump clearly off the wall.

We took this picture from the back, also again doing a pose, so that you can see what angle the camera is at.

For all of these photographs we used fast shutter speed and auto focus. We used the fast shutter speed so that we could capture the quick movement, otherwise the picture would end up being blurry and bad quality.

movement.

This image above is from a fashion shoot. The model has jumped to create a wind effect on her outfit. This photograph was taken by Leanne Lim-Walker. This image is fashion photography.

I found this image on Google Images via the website bbc.co.uk/inwithpictures, the image was taken during the walk of the model so you can create a natural wave of the dress that she is wearing. This is fashion photography.

This image above is from GadgetPhotoReview.com, the fast shutter speed has captured each individual movement to create one final image. This is movement photography.

The image above is also from GadgetPhotoReviews.com and shows one person making a quick and swift movement. The slow shutter speed has captured each movement and created a blur effect. This is also movement photography.
